LEGAL NOTICE The County of Kane and the River Valley Workforce Investment Board for local workforce area #5 (Kane, DeKalb and Kendall counties) have modified their Five Year Plan for workforce activities in accordance with the Workforce Investment Act of 1998. A modification to the plan will be submitted to the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, incorporating PY2010 formula allocations for the period 7/1/10 –6/30/11. The budget will be discussed and approved at the May 26, 2010 meeting of the River Valley Workforce Investment Board. The budget has been posted for review and comments for 30 days at www.kcdee.org and www.rivervalleywib.org. Comments or questions can be directed to mccravensheila@co.kane.il.us or mcdonnelltracy@rivervalleywib.org LEGAL NOTICE: WIA Funding Available for 2010 Summer Youth Program The County of Kane and the River Valley Workforce Investment Board for local workforce area #5 (Kane, DeKalb and Kendall counties) have available funds under the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) to serve eligible youth in paid summer work experience opportunities from June through August, 2010. Youth must be WIA-eligible, ages 16-21. Proposals to serve youth in this Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP II) will be accepted through 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 19th, 2010. Program activities to be provided by the bidder must include the following: Eligibility pre-screening, Standardized testing, pre-employment screening and work readiness preparation, worksite development and management, matching participants to worksites, monitoring worksite attendance and participation, providing payroll services to youth in accordance with policy, and transitioning youth from subsidized work experiences into unsubsidized employment, educational pathways, occupational skills training, or additional WIA services as needed. Standard WIA performance measures apply – Credential Attainment, Employment/Education, and Literacy/Numeracy Gains. Priority of funding may be given to WIA Area #5 youth providers with experience from the 2009 SYEP program and demonstrated effectiveness and performance. Project size should be between 15-30 youth per project, with staff requests not to exceed 1 FTE per 30 youth. Placement of students in jobs with Green industries/occupations and private sector employers a plus. All other WIA priorities apply. Bidders must submit a 1-page narrative describing program design to deliver all activities above including 9 weeks of work for students, and a 1-page budget detailing specific costs. The grant to serve adult and dislocated workers has been modified to reflect a total of $3,625,518 for the period of 2/17/2009 to 6/30/2011. The receipt of these additional funds will be approved at the May 12, 2010 meeting of the River Valley Workforce Investment Board.
